No One Does It Better Than Ralph Lauren

I admit, the latest from Ralph Lauren's Purple Label looks more like a central casting catalog for the latest Gatsby film than a Look Book for a current clothing line. We all know the roaring twenties has inspired Lauren, yet many other menswear designers have been heavily influenced by the "Jazz Era" in the up-and-coming seasons. However in my opinion, no one does the classics as well as R.L. For those that have worn a purple label dress shirt, or knotted a sevenfold tie from the collection, you will know that it is all worth it.

Shot in Malibu, California, here is Purple Label Spring 2012 (I had to have the black and white wingtips)

Wearing white is hard to pull off without looking like the guy from Fantasy Island. Update your Summer suits with fresh shades of Navy.
A collar pin is an accessory that is true twenties, wear them with forward point collars only.

If I happen to be fortunate enough to own property in Malibu, this is how I plan to dress when at home.

An Ode To Mr. Astaire, From Paul Stuart

If you haven't seen a Fred Astaire film lately, you really should look into catching one on Turner Classics. Astaire has been known for his sartorial panache since his 1933 film debut, Dancing Lady.
His effortless elegance is something to emulate, and this season Paul Stuart brings a custom collection that is inspired by the legendary actor. Swank...pure swank.

A vintage print pocket square adds just enough throwback to a look that is still fresh in 2012.

“I’m putting on my top hat,
Tying up my white tie,
Brushing off my tails.
I’m duding up my shirtfront,
Putting in the shirt studs,
Polishing my nails…”
Note the tie bar placement, Mr. A always wore his low.
